Graphic Design is the art and practice of planning and projecting ideas and experiences with visual and textual content. This course is focused on both theoretical and practical parts. The aim of the course is to develop design sense in trainees by the help of theoretical concepts and practice.

Syllabus - What you will learn from this course
Introduction to Photoshop
Photoshop: The Godfather of Design Tools.
Introduction to photoshop and its design tools, the difference between RGB and CMYK, print and digital, Raster Vs Pixels, etc.
Selection Tools and their Strengths.
Marquee, Lasso, and Magic Wand Tool. Practice Activity: Students select and remove objects from the given images and learn how to use search engines for selecting pictures.
Adjustments tools and image Cleanup.
Practice Activity: Selecting an image of their choosing changing the colors from one aspect to another.
Layers, and why Photoshop works in those.
The Digital Palette. Adjusting brush library and online tools Texturing and Lights and Shadows Adding Photo realistic touches.
FInal Practice Activity: At the end of the module, students will develop their main assignment which is painting an apple in Photoshop using the brush tools, selection tools, and blending options. Students will be on hand to be able to learn brushing, painting and also to understand texturing as well
The Intermediate Level and Introduction to Principles of Design
Introduction to basics of Design
- Introduction to CRAP (Contrat, Repetition, Alignment, and Proximity)
- Politics of Gaze and its Use in design
- Geometric Patterns and Compositional Mathematics: The use of golden ratio and fibonacci sequence in design.
- Color Theory
Advance tools Usage
- Advance Selection Tools and clone stamp tool usage
- Practice Activity: Cover up the marked spots on the image using the clone stamp tool.
- Pen Tool and Shape Tool
- Practice Activity: Trace out your favorite cartoon character in photoshop. SUbmit the files of photoshop and a jpeg.
Painting with Light
- Brush & Blending Tools for creating a collage
- Practice Activity: Design a festival poster for a big company that’s sponsoring it. The client has asked that the poster must reflect what the event is about and when is it happening. He wants to show the sponsors for the event but not so much in an obvious way.
The Age of Minimalism and Introduction to Illustrator
Introduction to Minimalism and Logo Design
- Logo Design Fundamentals: How to build strong and everlasting logos?
- It’s All in the Fonts: How to build a fonts library and effective use of fonts in branding.
- Case Study and Brand Identity Development: Students go through case studies of brands and understand why certain brand logos lasted longer than the others. Here the instructor introduces the idea of invoking archetypes within humans for stronger brand personas.
Introduction to Minimalism and Logo Design
- Basics of Illustrator
- Pen tool and How to use it
- Illustrations and their color palettes
- FInal Activity: Participants design a logo in illustrator for their personal brand and submit it with one mockup. They will use references provided by the instructor for this activity
- Branding Mockups: What are branding mockups and how they can be easily downloaded for usage for clients? Here the instructor explains which websites allow the easy download of free images as well as some really well-paid ones.
